Frequently Asked Questions
On this page, we list the most frequent questions about SPSAS, how to participate, who can apply, financial support and other topics. Please check the information below before contacting our support - the answers to your questions may already be on the list!


I am an undergraduate student with an ongoing research project (IC). I will complete my degree mid year (June–August) and plan to apply for graduate school afterward. Can I apply?
No. At the time of application, the candidate must indicate the category they belong to (IC, PhD, or postdoc), provide documentation proving this status, show institutional affiliation, and confirm that this affiliation will remain valid through the event dates.
I am affiliated with UNICAMP. If selected, will I receive any financial support?
No. Candidates affiliated with UNICAMP will not receive financial assistance to participate in the event.
I am funded by a FAPESP scholarship. If selected, will I receive financial support?
No. Candidates already funded by FAPESP will not receive financial assistance. If selected, FAPESP scholarship holders must use the Technical Reserve associated with their scholarship to cover their expenses.
Which expenses are eligible for funding?
Airfare, transportation expenses, travel insurance (only for participants coming from abroad, according to the values listed at www.fapesp.br/2921), and daily allowances in the host city for selected participants coming from other cities, states, or countries. Researchers and students whose projects are conducted in the host city will not receive transportation assistance. Daily allowance values follow FAPESP’s official rates: www.fapesp.br/12042
I am a FAPESP scholarship holder and will be doing an internship abroad during the event dates. Can I receive financial support?
No. If selected, FAPESP scholarship holders must use the Technical Reserve of their scholarship to cover daily allowances.
How do I receive the financial support?
Participants will receive their daily allowance payments on the first day of the course, upon presenting their boarding pass. On the same day, they will also receive reimbursement for airfare and travel insurance. Daily allowance values follow FAPESP’s official rates (www.fapesp.br/12042). Reimbursement for airfare, transportation expenses, and travel insurance (for international participants) will follow FAPESP’s values (www.fapesp.br/2921).
My project is a systematic review or meta analysis. Am I eligible?
Yes. Students whose research projects involve systematic reviews or meta‑analyses may apply to the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Obesity.
