  • Application fee: Free
  • Applications will remain open until April 30, 2026.
  • Applications must be submitted exclusively through the form available on the event website.
  • The organization of the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Obesity is not responsible for applications that are not received due to technical issues with computers, communication failures, network congestion, or any other technical factors that may prevent data transmission.
  • Before submitting the application, candidates must read all instructions carefully and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements.
  • The use of a “social name” is permitted in this selection process.
  • To include a social name on attendance lists and in all official publications related to the event—and to maintain accurate internal records linking the civil name and social name—the candidate must, during the application period, indicate the use of a social name on the application form and upload a scanned, completed, and signed request form for the inclusion and use of the social name (available through the link provided in the application form), in a high‑resolution PDF.

ESPCA Obesidade - Monalisa Botero

  • Students and researchers developing research projects at the undergraduate research, doctoral, or postdoctoral levels in areas related to the SPSAS theme will be eligible, both at the time of application and during the event (October 2026).
  • Projects involving clinical research, experimental research using in vivo, in vitro, and/or in silico models, or systematic reviews will be accepted, provided they fall within the thematic scope of the event.
  • Candidates must provide proof, at the time of application, that their institutional affiliation is active and will remain active through the event dates.
  • Candidates must not have failed any undergraduate or graduate‑level courses.
  • As the event will be conducted entirely in English with no simultaneous translation, candidates must have proficiency in English (listening and speaking).

All documents must be submitted in Portuguese or English.

  1. A justification letter written by the candidate, explaining the importance of the course for their academic development, describing their research project and the institution where it is conducted, and indicating the expected completion date of their undergraduate degree, PhD, or postdoctoral program.
  2. A research abstract (maximum 500 words) describing the project developed by the candidate. The abstract must include: project title, authors and affiliations, and keywords.
  3. A recommendation letter from the candidate’s advisor, either from Brazil or abroad.
  4. An updated academic transcript.
  5. A FAPESP‑style résumé (Súmula Curricular) or a short CV (up to 5 pages) highlighting relevant scientific activities, including publications in high‑impact international journals.
  6. Proof of institutional affiliation or scholarship funding from a research agency (e.g., grant award letter).

  1. Never having failed any undergraduate or graduate courses.
  2. Having completed or currently completing an undergraduate research project (iniciação científica) funded by a research agency.
  3. Quality of scientific output, measured by the number and quality of published articles. Points will be assigned as follows:
    1. First author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 10 — 10 points
    2. Co‑author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 10 — 5 points
    3. First author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 5 and < 10 — 8 points
    4. Co‑author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 5 and < 10 — 4 points
    5. First author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 3 and < 5 — 6 points
    6. Co‑author in a journal with impact factor ≥ 3 and < 5 — 3 points
    7. First author in a journal with impact factor < 3 — 4 points
    8. Co‑author in a journal with impact factor < 3 — 2 points
  4. Number of citations (Google Scholar). Points will be assigned as follows:
    1. 200 or more citations — 10 points
    2. b. 100–199 citations — 8 points
    3. c. 50–99 citations — 5 points
    4. d. 20–49 citations — 2 points
Candidates who meet criteria 1 and 2 will be ranked according to the total points obtained from criteria 3 and 4.

Candidates with the highest scores in each category will be selected according to the established criteria. The categories are:

  1. UNICAMP postdoctoral researchers
  2. UNICAMP doctoral students
  3. UNICAMP undergraduate students
  4. Postdoctoral researchers funded by foreign agencies and conducting research outside Brazil
  5. Doctoral students funded by foreign agencies and conducting research outside Brazil
  6. Undergraduate students funded by foreign agencies and conducting research outside Brazil
  7. Postdoctoral researchers funded and conducting research in Brazil, outside the state of São Paulo
  8. Doctoral students funded and conducting research in Brazil, outside the state of São Paulo
  9. Undergraduate students funded and conducting research in Brazil, outside the state of São Paulo
  10. Postdoctoral researchers funded and conducting research in Brazil, within the state of São Paulo, except UNICAMP students
  11. Doctoral students funded and conducting research in Brazil, within the state of São Paulo, except UNICAMP students
  12. Undergraduate students funded and conducting research in Brazil, within the state of São Paulo, except UNICAMP students
  • On the scheduled date, the list of selected candidates for the ESPCA – Obesity will be published.
  • Selected candidates will receive an email at the address provided during registration requesting confirmation of participation.
  • Candidates will have 15 consecutive days to confirm their participation.
  • In case of withdrawal or lack of confirmation, the next candidates on the list will be contacted, according to the category in which they applied.

Oral presentation slots will be assigned based on the participant’s preference indicated during registration and on the evaluation of the submitted work by the selection committee. All other participants will present their work in poster format. All candidates will be notified of the decision prior to the event.
